Obamacare for those in a State that Hasn’t Signed On?
My son’s ( he is 40) insurance has gone through the roof and it’s a huge struggle. He has a steady and stable job. Our state (NE) hasn’t signed on. Does he have any other options, can he explore Obamacare via another state, can you offer any hope?
Answer
In all states those making between 100% of the Federal Poverty Level and 400% can get some sort of assistance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. In states that didn't expand Medicaid those who make less than 100% of the poverty level may not have any options for assistance. In those states people are encouraged to apply for Medicaid and then use their denial letter to qualify for other coverage options.
