I live in Coeur d Alene Idaho – 83814
Female – Single – 34 years old

My income is around $12,400.00 per year. I cant seem to find a obama care plan that I can afford. Everyone say i do not qualify for any subsidies. Why? I cannot afford 200.00 a month for Healthcare. I can hardly afford to have a car and car insurance. Can you help me find a plan before the deadline that I can afford. I need to see a doctor as soon as possible.

Answer

You are right on the cusp of your income being too low for subsidies in Idaho. This is because Idaho did not expand Medicaid. However, everyone is wrong. You qualify for the maximum Tax credit and cost sharing reduction subsidy at that income. Just make sure you claim at least $11,670 in Modified Adjusted Gross Income at the end of the year.

You can also move a to Washington state and get the awesome benefits of expanded Medicaid. Couer d'Alene is a great place, but Spokane Washington has a much more progressive system when it comes to caring for those that make less than 100% of the Federal Poverty Level.
