Waiting Period For Travelers Health Insurance?

My father is currently visiting me from India and prior to arrival he had purchased Health insurance from Azimuth. He had to get admitted in the hospital over the weekend due to an infection and may have maximized his coverage. During the stay, it was discovered that his liver may require treatment and will require 3-4 days additional stay. Is it possible to purchase Health insurance for him at this point for the liver treatment?
