What kind of insurance do we get when my husband turns 65 for him is it something to get through the market place or what I am a year younger than him so I would assume I would stay with the same.

Answer

When one spouse turns 65 and becomes eligible for Medicare the other spouse can get a Marketplace plan or stay on the current plan if they are under 65.

The transition from family plan to individual plan can be a little hard tricky as all policies are based on policy periods. You just want to watch out for a gap in coverage or "wasting" money you paid toward your deductible / maximum.

Losing coverage for any reason other than non-payment can qualify the spouse for special enrollment in the Marketplace, this could be needed if there are only two family members and you are switching off a family plan.
