Can I Have More Than one Marketplace Plan?
Can I have more than one exchange plan? Can I pick one to cover charges that the other one will not?
Answer
Generally it makes sense to only enroll in one marketplace plan, however there are times when you may be covered under more than one policy. For instance a person may have coverage from work and Medicare. You'll need to know which insurance pays first. In general though, you should simply pick the right plan with the right coverage. Only the claims you make to a health plan are counted toward your cost sharing amounts like deductibles and maximums. Also cost assistance won't be able to be applied to multiple plans. You can however get a separate dental or vision plan, this is one instance where it would make sense to have another policy through the marketplace.
