Why Can’t my Doctor Accept New Patients Older Than a Certain Age?
A physician stated under ACA he could not accept new patients older than 72.
Is this a true statement. My friend’s mother is thinking of relocating from her home from Florida to NJ and is concerned that she will not be able to be seen by new medical doctors. Please let me know if this is true. or that this one doctor is not willing to see new patients. Thank you.
Answer
There is no law that defines what age a doctor can take patients at. If a doctor accepts Medicare and is qualified, then they can take Medicare patients.
That being said, no doctor is forced to participate in any network.
