ACA Saved My Grandson’s Life – Story
The ACA saved a young man’s life, who happens to be my grandson.
At the age of twenty, he was looking forward to the College semester being over and having fun during Christmas break, when he was diagnosed with a life threatening Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma CANCER. Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a fast growing CANCER. When it reaches Stage 4, then your chances of living have declined significantly, not including a lot more expensive and painful treatments. Stage 4 would have called for a bone marrow transplant. He was a college student and didn’t have any means of paying for a health insurance, but he qualified for insurance through the ACA insurance exchange (expanded Medicaid) and it was his “knight-in-shining armor”!!!!!! It provided the means for obtaining life saving “free market based” expensive cancer treatment. HE IS ALIVE TODAY BECAUSE OF THE ACA, OBAMA CARE.
His cancer is in remission and I thank God everyday for the ACA.
I write my Senator and Congressman every week pleading with them not to repeal the ACA. I hope they will one day soon have a conscience and do the right thing and build on what is in place now.
