Does Obamacare Require a Drug Test?
Is it true that at the first doctor visit for a health issue or a visit to a new doctor never used before, requires that a drug screening be completed using an urine sample? If so does this apply to all Insurance coverage or to only insurance coverage obtained through Obamacare? I have insurance from my last employer that carried over coverage after my retirement.
Answer
The ACA does not require drug tests. However, it is possible that there are individual plans (especially employer-sponsored plans) which meet the Minimum Essential Coverage requirements and do require you to take drug tests. Whether or not your health insurance requires drug testing depends on your insurance provider, your employer, and the specific plan you purchase.
Wrong. Part of Obama care is now requiring doctors to see patients every three months for most controlled substance prescriptions. A mandatory drug screen will be done at each visit.
