Is There a Surcharge For ObamaCare Coverage?
I was talking to my son today and him and his wife are paying $600 a month for insurance through her work. I asked him why he couldn’t get insurance for himself and his family through his work and he said that through the ObamaCare Act that they would have to pay a surcharge per month of $100 plus insurance premiums. Is this true? I thought a person or family would only be penalized if they didn’t have any insurance coverage at all. Is this true.
Answer
There is no surcharge for health insurance under ObamaCare. Employer plans work like they normally do, but one cannot get Marketplace cost assistance if they have an employer plan. There are fees charged to insurers who use the Marketplace, but that fee isn't paid by the customer. If we are missing something, please feel free to comment below and we can help clarify.
