Started out well but not for long…

I got laid off during the middle of 2014. It was rather easy to apply for and get Obamacare. I got the Silver Plan and my 2 kids were covered under Child Health Plus. Even re-enrolling in November 2014 went well. Then on December 31, 2014 we get a letter stating that my children’s coverage was terminated as of December 31, 2014. What the heck?

We’ve been calling them several times a week, given empty promises of getting things fixed. It’s been 3 weeks and the children still don’t have coverage. I thought children were always supposed to have coverage? Now they’re blaming a computer glitch and I can’t even appeal so we still have nothing for them. When you appeal you’re supposed to be able to keep the coverage. Our case was supposed to have been escalated several times but I guess everyone else’s is too because it hasn’t helped one bit.

My greatest worry is something will happen to one of them and we will lose whatever we have left because we can’t afford to pay the bills. They just tell us to not pay anything and when (IF!) this is resolved it will backdate.

This is a big problem. You have the right to an appeal, and they are right this really should all be covered when resolved. Just keep at it and remember you have lots of appeal rights under the ACA.
